We recently added URL scanning to help keep shared links safer inside LinkMagnet.
You do not need to configure anything to use it. As links are created and monitored, the dashboard shows a status dot so you can quickly understand each link's current safety state.
We use trusted signals (including Google Web Risk) plus LinkMagnet policy checks, such as blocking chained URL shorteners. This post focuses on what the statuses mean for you.
What the dots mean
In the dashboard, each short link has a colored dot:
- Green dot = Clean
- Yellow dot = Pending review
- Red dot = Blocked
- Gray dot = Not checked
You will also see the same status as a label on the detail page for each link.
Status guide
Green (Clean)
A Clean link has passed current checks and is considered safe to serve.
What to expect:
- The link is active
- No action is required
- The dashboard may show when it was last checked
Yellow (Pending review)
A Pending review link is still being evaluated, or a safety provider is temporarily unavailable.
What to expect:
- The status should resolve automatically after re-checking
- You may see "Pending since ..." on the detail page
- In some flows, redirecting can be delayed until review completes
Red (Blocked)
A Blocked link was flagged as unsafe or violates safety policy.
What to expect:
- The short link is not allowed to serve traffic
- The detail page may include a short reason (for example, an unsafe destination signal)
- You should replace the destination URL with a safe alternative
Gray (Not checked)
A Not checked status means there is no safety result available yet for that link.
What to expect:
- This is typically temporary
- Re-checks and normal system activity usually move it to a standard status
Why this matters
The goal is simple: make safety clear at a glance.
Instead of guessing whether a link is okay to share, you can use the status dots to quickly spot which links are ready, which need time, and which should be replaced.
